Ranchi traders and police launch local coordination to improve market security

Ranchi’s business community and police have started a neighbourhood-level coordination system to boost security in major market areas. The initiative, launched at Kotwali police station, focuses on tackling petty crime, drug activity and harassment near Bada Talab and adjoining commercial pockets.

A dedicated WhatsApp group has been created for faster communication website between traders and police to ensure timely response during incidents. The Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce will expand this model across all police-station areas in Ranchi.

Local traders say the move will build trust, support small businesses, improve shopper confidence and create a safer trading environment in the city.
